Pavlína Těšínská

She completed her Master’s degree in Environmental Chemistry and Technology in 2023 at the Faculty of Environmental Technology (UCT Prague), where she defended her Master’s thesis on enhancing the biodegradability of landfill leachate using Advanced Oxidation Processes (UV/H2O2 and Fenton processes). Upon graduation, she was awarded the Josef Hlávka Award as an outstanding graduate of the faculty. Since 2023, she has been a full-time Ph.D. student at the Department of Environmental Chemistry.

Her research focuses on Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) for the removal of micropollutants from aqueous environments. The main focus of her work is the degradation of benzophenone-type organic UV filters, the assessment of their environmental fate, and the investigation of the resulting transformation products. Furthermore, she investigates in detail the mechanisms of peroxydisulfate activation (using chelated iron, sulfidated nanoscale zero-valent iron, or heat) and evaluates the influence of various water matrix constituents (such as co-existing anions and background organic matter) on the overall oxidation efficiency and micropollutant degradation.
