Zuzana Honzajková, Ph.D.

She earned her Master’s degree in Environmental Chemistry and Technology in 2008 from the Faculty of Environmental Technology at the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (UCT Prague). In 2015, she successfully defended her doctoral dissertation in the same field at the same faculty, completing her Ph.D. studies. She has been with the Department of Environmental Chemistry continuously since 2008—initially as a full-time doctoral student, from 2011 as a researcher, and since 2015 as an Assistant Professor.

Most of her research has been dedicated to wastewater and drinking water treatment using membrane separation processes, as well as water desalination via low-temperature membrane distillation. Within her research projects, she has focused not only on technological aspects but also on the microbiological assessment of wastewater and drinking water. She has also engaged in microbiological analyses of sewage sludge in connection with its hygienization. Currently, her research focuses on microalgae cultivation as part of the comprehensive utilization of digestate from biogas plants.

Ongoing Research Projects:

  • TS01030097 – Integration of microalgae cultivation within the complex utilization of output streams from biogas stations in order to optimize and economize their operation in accordance with the goal of reducing CO2 emissions and circular economy goals (2024 - 2029), Research Team Member (UCT Prague)
